Clopivet® (Clopidol 25%) - Coccidiostat and Feed Additive Wonder Molecule.
Coccidiosis is one of the most encountered poultry disease in Africa and globally.
The effect of coccidiosis caused by a species' of microorganisms called Eimeria. Spp. is highly detrimental to both poultry birds and subsequently our pockets as farmers.
Coccidiosis can be likened to Ulcer in humans but much more severe, in fact it can be likened to Severe Ulcer and Severe Pile in humans.
Coccidiosis is marked by intestinal wall abrasions or injuries that leads to bloody stools in birds.
With injuries comes pain and hence the birds are not able to eat and because the stomach walls are injured, they cannot absorb nutrients into the blood stream for growth.
This then results to emaciation and abrupt death in most cases.
What then is a Coccidiostat?
A Coccidiostat is a veterinary product that helps in inhibiting the growth of these disease causing microorganisms called Eimeria.
While, a feed Additive is a compound that helps stimulate appetite as well as improve feed conversion rate.
So why a combination of both in Clopivet ®
A combination of both brings to play, prevention measures in non-infected birds and also quick healing in infected birds, while helping them gain appetite as well as improve their feed conversion rate.
Remember, the Poultry Production Game is basically a game of weight per time against money spent per time.
Which means the more money you spend, the less your profit.
And with sick birds three things are always involved;
1. You either loose all your investment on a bird due to the death of the bird - which is most common.
2. You spend heavily on treatment which would drastically increase your cost of production per time.
3. You would have to feed for a longer period so they can regain the weight they have lost as well as meet up to the new sales timeline.
What are the cost savings features of Clopivet®
An average Coccidiostat costs about N5500 or more currently. But this would be used two times per batch of production (2nd week and 4th/5th week) and for a fixed number of birds which makes them more expensive.
Clopivet® comes as a powdered formulation and is mixed in the ratio of 100gm powder to 40bags of 25kg feeds.
Currently retailing at N6500 per Satchet.
That means you only spend N162.5 per bag of feed for preventive measures and to boost their weight by improving their Feed Conversion Rate.

How long can it be used?
It can be used from 2weeks up until 7 days before sales of the birds.
