AGRO ARBITRATION ( BUYING LOW AND SELLING HIGH)
Agro arbitration has been around for a very long time and most especially in the commercial agriculture settings.
This can be defined simply as buying agro commodities where or when they are cheap and selling where or when they are scarce and as such heavily priced.
Agro arbitration can be applied to a wide range of commodities, from poultry products, to cash crop products.
For Example.
Mr Ali Danjuma decided to start selling poultry dungs, by purchasing them where they are cheap; middle belt and southern farms, and selling them in the northern part of Nigeria where they are heavily priced.
But he didn't have enough money for that distant logistics cost, so he decided to buy from small farms in rural areas and sell these dungs to cash crop farmers in sub-urban areas.
He started by buying a 100kg sack bag of poultry dung for N1800 from a poultry farm in Paiko, Niger state and sells it to a maize farmer in Nassarawa for N2650
He started with 30 bags and started finally to grow his initial funds by 25% consistently per trade.
After three months, he noticed that the farmers in Niger state, needed charcoal for their hatchery and this charcoal is also cheap in Nassarawa State.
He got introduced to these charcoal merchants in Nassarawa, and then started supplies to Paiko.
